So you think drinking is ok cause it's legal and safer than drugs, right?
Nope. Alcohol is a drug - one which kills more people each year than all the illegal drugs put together – not to mention the countless accidents, car crashes, crimes, fights & unplanned pregnancies. Overdose can cause alcoholic poisoning - loss of consciousness, choking on vomit & even death. 1000 young people under 15 are hospitalised every year with alcohol poisoning - all need emergency treatment.
You can get physically and psychologically addicted to alcohol & long-term use can cause serious liver, heart and stomach problems. Regular drinking can lead to tolerance so you need to down more beers to get the same effect. Slower reaction times & lack of judgement can lead to accidents. Binge-drinking (necking loads of alcohol in record time) is especially dangerous if you're young as your body isn't mature so booze has a greater effect.
