‘XS’ Young People’s Substance Misuse Service
XS is a new service to provide help and treatment to young people under 19 who have difficulties with drugs and/or alcohol. The service is in the early stages of development, but is now able to accept referrals by and for young people who may require a service, through Social Care Direct or by contact us directly.
The service is for young people under the age of 19 who have a serious substance misuse problem. XS will have three teams across County Durham, to cover the North, South and East.
Our staff will provide education, information and advice to al young people who use our service and will seek to provide medical treatment, counselling and outreach support whenever it is appropriate for a young person.
XS will work with young people, raising their self-esteem, self-confidence, improving family relationships where possible and developing more links in their communities.
