Young People’s Centre – Ridgemount House

The fourth floor of Ridgemount House in Peterlee will be the home to a new young people’s service addressing substance misuse issues and the wider health needs of those 19 and under. The centre will provide counselling, outreach support, prescribing, alternative therapies, sexual health services, housing/homelessness advice, employment and training support.

The centre will house an Internet area and shower, kitchen and laundry facilities. Clients can access the centre mainly by referral rather than drop-in arrangements although this will be reviewed with clients themselves. Referrals will be from GPs, Youth Workers, Social Service, Connexions, School Nurse, ESMI, probation, College, Youth Engagement Service, Police etc.

It is anticipated that the centre will be operational mid 2005 and its launch will be posted on this site in due course.
